2022 FITNESS GOALS (2022)

Every year at the end of the calendar year, we get the chance to engage in a fascinating thought experiment: speculating about the future of fitness and making educated assumptions about the numerous ways we can exercise and move differently. The following list was created with the help of people who work for a range of fitness sector businesses, including equipment manufacturers, certification bodies, and health clubs. It is not an exhaustive list. This list, while not full, provides a general overview of the ways in which humans might be perspiring in the near future.

(a). While activity trackers and wearable technology are still popular in 2022, their uses are expanding beyond fitness. Many smartwatches and fitness trackers are incorporating metrics-focused features this year that look into body temperatures, stress levels, sleep, and heart rate. Beyond just steps and miles done, people are trying to measure a variety of wellness data. The human performance company Whoop is an outstanding illustration of this. They have raised $200 million in fundraising during the past year. Whoop can monitor your sleep, well-being, stress, and recuperation to give you a more comprehensive picture of your entire health.

(b). A new type of community centre and a physical focus for social networking will be fitness centres. The daily excursion to the gym or studio will serve as more than just a means of stress relief now that many jobs can be done remotely. It will provide a way to leave the office, home, or daycare facility and engage in some face-to-face, in-person engagement.

(c). People are spending more time outside, and once clubs closed, many members moved their workouts to a nearby outdoor area. In order to identify the newest fitness fads or trends, the UK gym chain Pure Gym performed a survey based on Google searches. They discovered that searches for reverse running and stroller fitness are increasing. Exercises in nature and outdoor pursuits like cycling, hiking, and running will continue to be well-liked options. In addition to wanting to exercise more, more people are discovering the health benefits of being in nature.

(d) Breathwork can help increase the parasympathetic nervous system's effectiveness, which is crucial for the body's ability to recover after exercise, and unilateral exercise can help increase balance, coordination, and movement efficiency—all of which are essential for designing successful corrective exercise regimens. Northern Virginia-based personal trainer Rafal Tokicz predicts that as more trainers learn how to apply these techniques to help customers see results, their use will rise in popularity.

(e). There will probably still be a lot of emphasis on holistic fitness programmes and mind-body techniques in 2022. Following numerous lockdowns, budgetary constraints, and overall stress from surviving a pandemic, mental health is a major area of attention in the field of medicine. Practices like yoga, tai chi, and medication will remain popular as more individuals explore for ways to reduce stress, anxiety, and support their mental health. Customers will look to movement as a tool to achieve their overall wellness goals as physical exercise becomes more integrated into the larger health puzzle.

(f). Something about exercising with a group uplifts your mood. The idea that consumers enjoy working out with others and that this sense of camaraderie enhances the business has inspired entire companies. While HIIT and yoga will always be well-liked group exercises, programmes like trapeze, roller derby, and trampoline are becoming more and more popular. Weighted hula hoop exercises seem to be making a comeback, thanks to TikTok. While it can be challenging to distinguish between trends and fads, there is no doubting the popularity of group training.

(g).There will probably still be a lot of emphasis on holistic fitness programmes and mind-body techniques in 2022.

(h).  One of the major changes we're noticing in the fitness industry is that fitness now encompasses more than just getting the ideal bikini body. Moving your body and leading a healthier lifestyle are important. Fitness is simply one aspect of complete wellness, and more people are beginning to view exercise as medicine. Daily movement and exercise have advantages for your health and wellbeing. Even the Health Association says that in some instances of high cholesterol and blood pressure, doctors might recommend exercise.

The fitness sector will continue to be driven by consumer behaviour and technology, despite the fact that no one can foretell the future. There are several chances within the sector to satisfy consumer demand as a shift toward sustainable fitness rather than quick-fix solutions keeps growing. As we enter a new year, the way the world views health and fitness will continue to change.
