Want to buy a new computer?
Are you overwhelmed by all the options available to you?
Are you stressed about today's high cost of computers?
For most people, buying a new computer doesn't have to be as stressful as buying a new car. It doesn't have to be that expensive either. If you are like most people and have a limited computer budget, you need to try to get the most computers for your money.
Here are 3 simple ways anyone can save money when buying a new computer:
1) Shop for the best deal.
It sounds pretty clear. But many people don't realize that they don't need the fastest, most expensive computer with the most "gadgets". In fact, if you're already using an older computer, even the cheapest new computer will be a big upgrade. If you don't know much about computers, you can learn a lot by shopping around. Ask lots of questions, compare prices, compare features and then find the best price. Shop at your local electronics store and find the best deals online. You'll be surprised how much money you can save by shopping!
2) Install your own "add-ons"
Many computers you find in the store come with a lot of additional software already installed. While convenient, it's not always the best way to save money. While many of these add-ons sound good, you don't always need them. You can often find better deals by purchasing your own software add-ons (such as a word processor, antivirus, pop-up blocker, spyware remover, games, etc.) separately. And you can get some of them for free. So before you buy a "full loaded" computer, ask yourself if you really need all the extras, then look around to see if you can buy a slimmed down computer - and get those extras for a lot less!
3) Don't buy an extended warranty
Unless you're a computer "techie," extended warranties offered by computer retailers often sound like a good idea. After all, who wants to bother paying for service on a computer after you buy it. However, keep in mind that most computers come with a warranty, and most problems with a computer will appear either early (when you're still under warranty) or much later (when it may be cheaper to buy a new computer). Technology changes very quickly these days. So consider whether or not it's worth the inflated price of the extended warranty. And if you really feel you need an extended warranty, ask to buy it at a lower price. Not all dealers will negotiate warranty, but some will. And whether you buy the extended warranty or not, make sure you back up all your files regularly, just in case!
If you have an unlimited budget, consider yourself lucky. And if you're running a computer business, make sure you get what you need while trying to keep the price low. At any rate, buying something that doesn't suit your needs is not a good deal.
I hope these tips help you and happy computer shopping!
