Ever thought how a sorry is an ‘eraser’?
When, we are young, everything starts with a pencil. Right from a pincer-grasp to writing. And we always had an eraser with it. You write a mistake, erase it, and write the correct word. What we don’t see is, the impression of the previous mistake is always there, and the eraser just makes it un-see it.
Similarly, things were simply unseen with a ‘sorry’. You, make a mistake, you say sorry, everything seems fine. But, is it really fine?
People remember mistakes. Be it their own, be it other’s, people always remember mistakes. Because they were hurt or regret it, and somehow, deep inside, never forgive them or themselves!
But, there was a “sorry” and there was an “fine, it’s okay”.
So, when you rethink about it, a “sorry” is more of a “strike-off”!
Let me explain…
When you are writing story ‘on a paper, with a pen’, you tend to make mistakes. And you have no choice, but to strike it off. (Considering you are not using a pen eraser, that’s good enough to not damage the paper). You finish it, and show it to any person, and the first think they will look at is the strike-off. However nice the story is, however beautiful your handwriting is, they first tend to look at the mistake!
And surprisingly, we are taught the same! Any written report, or an exam paper, we are told to ‘strike-off’ anything. And why? Because, it doesn’t look good, or is not impressive. Even you write a correct answer when you have a ‘strike-off’, you lose a mark!
The strike-off is always seen, and it does change the opinion!
When, it comes to a ‘sorry’, it’s not always alright!
And, the mistake is always seen!
Only, the mistake is seen!
The sad part is that, none of us is taught to appreciate the story, because, now, no one cares about the story!
Few, make a mistake in one page, Few in every paragraph, and Few in every sentence. But, they have the story too. And it’s high time we taught ourselves to read the story too. That, everybody have mistakes and strike-offs, with a beautiful unique story. And if you cannot over look the strike-off, you should also take a look at the story. And if you don’t have time to look at the story, at least be kind and liberal with the strike-offs. After all, that is when you get to write a better story!
I have a story with strike-offs. So do you!
Be kind and choose peace!
