A tale of one arm: The hidden connection between one-armed cook and one-armed robber
You’ve mastered the art of running chaotic kitchens in One-Armed Cook, flipping burgers and serving up orders at lightning speed. But what if that wasn’t your only hustle? What if, between shifts, you were robbing banks, cracking safes, and laundering your earnings through those very same restaurants? It sounds like a wild conspiracy, but the clues are there. Could these two games secretly be telling the story of a one-armed mastermind building an empire from burgers to bank heists? At first glance, these two games seem unrelated. But if you look closely, the evidence starts adding up.
One-armed cook is a game where you play as a chef with one arm tasked with maintaining the kitchen and customer’s satisfaction. One-armed robber is a game where you play as a thief with one arm tasked with robbing a bank or a store without killing too many civilians, and preferably without getting spotted, sounds easy but it is not, for example in one of the maps you have to eliminate the guard watching the cameras, if you use your guns, entering the vault would be tricky as guards and civilians can spot you and call the police. At the first glance these two games seem totally different but are they really?
Let's start from the default skin in both games. In one-armed cook he has brown hair, white T-Shirt, blue jeans and white shoes, In one-armed robber he has the same white T-Shirt, but black pants and black shoes, and a ski mask on his head, but his brown eyebrows are still visible, indicating that he has brown hair. In both games it is obvious that he has two arms but he chooses to use only his right arm, indicating they might be the same person. Another suspicious detail is him working at 16 different restaurants, not only that but in most cases he is the only one working in those restaurants indicating he might be the owner, but I can’t help but notice names of some of those restaurants “Henry’s Hot dogs”, “Benny’s Burger bar”, “Peter’s Pizzeria”, “Manny’s Mexican food”, “Simon’s Sandwiches”, “Freddy’s fried chicken” “Isaac’s ice cream shop”, “Naomi’s Nightclub”, Carter’s Coffee House”, “Patrick’s Pool Hall”... They all appear to be owned by a person whose name starts with the same letter as the food they sell, and we never meet those owners, why do you think that is? I believe that the character we play as is the owner and the reason that the restaurants are named after different people is because he is hiding his true identity. My theory makes sense in singleplayer, but what about the multiplayer, well one-armed cook and one-armed robber both support multiplayer meaning that your coworker in one-armed cook is also your partner in crime in one-armed robber, in which case you share equal ownership of the restaurants.
Whether intentional or not, the clues suggest that our one-armed protagonist is living a double life—flipping burgers one moment and pulling off daring heists the next. Could this be one of gaming’s most overlooked connections?
