A TikTok video saved an American's life

Alex Griswold, a 25-year-old resident of Florida, is a popular ticktocker, his account has three and a half million subscribers. In 2019, Alex posted a video showing his wife Melinda massaging his bare back. Two subscribers pointed out that the two large birthmarks on Alex's back that came into the frame looked suspicious: it could be cancer - and advised him to see a dermatologist.

Alex had never worried about his moles before, but decided to heed the advice of his followers and went to the doctor. It turned out that the subscribers were right: these two moles are really a manifestation of gradually developing skin cancer. According to the doctor, those who sounded the alarm in time, just saved Alex's life.

Alex had both moles removed, and a biopsy confirmed the initial diagnosis. Since then, Alex has been checked every six months and plans to do so for the rest of his life because of his increased risk of melanoma (skin cancer), The Sun reported. In addition, Alex now, he says, has begun to take better care of his health in general and his skin in particular, using sunscreen regularly and spending less time in the sun.

According to Alex, the video in which he told this story helped other people as well. Some subscribers told him that after watching the video they also went to the doctor and had their suspicious moles removed.
