If you said "meow" loudly and the food didn't show up in the bowl, then you're not a cat, you have to go to work. How do you wean a cat from begging?
Many cat owners make the same mistakes when raising pets. The complaint sounds something like this: "My cat is screaming and will scream long and hard until I do not get up and put his food. And it's 3:00 in the morning!"
This comes from the owner initially encouraging unwanted behavior in his pet. The cat mewed, said he was hungry, and the obedient owner went over and poured the food. In this way the animal got a foothold. "When I meow loudly, I get a tidbit." The first time was an accident. The second time, coincidence. The third time, it's a habit.
From there, the problem grows like a snowball. The owner does not want to get out of bed and give the cat food, it's nighttime. But the animal, which has a fixed behavior of "beggar", will scream louder, demanding more and more insistently. And if the obedient owner will give in and go along with the animal, the cat will realize "the louder the sound, the faster the owner will come", and then the cat will always meow as loudly and annoyingly as possible.
What to do? How do you fix this situation?
Simple. Feed the cat only when it is silent. The owner needs to put up with the emaciated howls. Do not react to unworthy behavior. And encourage only what he likes. If the owner likes silence, then you should feed the cat in silence. Does not meow, does not demand, we feed. Screams, we remove the food.
Soon the cat will understand that shouting is ineffective. Do not give anything. And when I sit quietly in silence, food falls into the bowl.
