Apple cuts production of iPhone 13

Even before the iPhone 13 series was announced, there was plenty of scepticism about the popularity of the new products. But Apple itself was showing confidence that the new products would take and even ordered a record 90 million units for sale by the end of the year. Still, the ongoing pandemic and the shortage of iPhone 13 played a negative role.

Bloomberg reported with reference to sources in the supply chain that Apple does not plan to fully buy back the ordered batches of components. The company has already notified its suppliers about this. Moreover, the plan has been reduced significantly - by 10 million units of smartphones. As a result, the company plans to produce 80 million iPhone 13 instead of 90 million.

The revision of the plan was also affected by the drop in demand for the company's smartphones. Users are disappointed with the long delivery time of iPhone 13 and the fact that all modifications of the devices are not available on shop shelves. Consumers are not willing to wait weeks for a new smartphone to arrive.

They are starting to seriously consider whether to buy an iPhone 13 or to wait for the release of the iPhone 14 series, which can offer a number of interesting innovations. And then there's the fear of the impending wave of a new strain of coronavirus.
