Apple officially announces ‘Peek Performance’ March 8th event

Apple revealed today that its next event will be held online on March 8th, with an invite bearing the tagline "peak performance" and a colorful Apple logo that could hint at the hues of new products.

Beyond the timing of 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT, the firm hasn't said much about what the virtual event will entail.

However, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who is a frequent source of Apple rumors, believes Apple will unveil a low-cost iPhone SE. He claims that the new smartphone would include 5G, a speedier A15 CPU chip, and improved cameras. It will, however, have the same design as the current iPhone SE, which implies the Touch ID feature may be retained.

In the meanwhile, Gurman believes Apple will unveil the next iPad Air model. The new tablet is rumored to come with a new processor and 5G connectivity for cellular variants. According to Gurman, Apple may also release the iOS 15.4 update, which will allow users to unlock Face ID-equipped iPhones and iPads while wearing a face mask. The next update is also rumored to include a Universal Control feature, allowing users to utilize the same keyboard and mouse across numerous iPads and Macs.

Another Mac with Apple-designed CPUs is reported to be on the way in March, although that is unlikely to be revealed during this presentation. We won't see the new iPhone 14 models, AirPods, Apple Watches, MacBook Air, iMac, or Mac Pro desktops, which are expected to arrive later in 2022.

In terms of expected announcements at the event, the new iPhone SE is believed to sport the same design as the previous version, but with 5G technology and an A15 CPU. Here's where you can learn more about the impending iPhone SE 3. According to reports, the new iPad Air will include 5G enhancements as well as an A15 CPU, as well as a new wide front-facing camera and other features. Apple is anticipated to focus on a new Mac mini or potentially a new entry-level MacBook Pro at this event, according to rumors.

At this event, Apple is scheduled to announce the release of iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, macOS 12.3, tvOS 15.4, and watchOS 8.5. Face ID, Universal Control, and other features have been improved with these versions.
