Apple's iPhone 13 Launch Reiterated for September; Apple Watch Series 7, AirPods 3 May Join the Announcement

iPhone 13 launch has reportedly been reiterated for the third week of September in a note to investors by a market analyst at the wealth management firm Wedbush Securities. Apple is also predicted to have the iPhone 13 representing 35 to 45 percent of the total iPhone production in the third quarter of this year. Separately, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has provided a roundup of what all Apple is expected to unveil along with its iPhone 13 family. The new models in the 2021 iPhone lineup are believed to feature Apple's A15 chip and a smaller display notch.

Apple Reiterated for September

The primary point of contention is an investor note by analysts at Wedbush Securities which reiterates the September timeline for the Apple iPhone announcement. According to a Reuters report citing the unnamed analyst, an announcement may happen a week ahead of the company's normal events in early September, possibly on 5 September. Previous reports have said September 12 may be the most likely date, although the analysts note the third Friday of the month may also be discussed in order to be in sync with the product release cycle of Apple. The Wedbush Securities analyst further cites sources "familiar with the matter" to substantiate that there will be three models announced, though the iPhone 13 will continue to be the main focus of the event.

 

The iPhone 13

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has predicted that Apple's launch event could be scheduled on Wednesday, September 12. This announcement has been reiterated by Stephen Nellis of J.P. Morgan on the basis that this will be a Tuesday as well. "The September 12th launch timing for the iPhone is primarily driven by the overall iPhone launch timing in particular. We expect Tuesday, September 11, 2018," as per the note obtained by AppleInsider. As for what features Apple will be touting, the company is said to showcase the redesigned iPhone 13. This model will feature an edge-to-edge display with a notch and an OLED display with a resolution of 1125 x 2436 pixels, as mentioned earlier. The iPhone 13 will reportedly start at $799 (roughly Rs. 56,500) for the base 64GB version.

 

The Apple Watch Series 7, AirPods 3

Back in March, Gurman had reported that Apple will add a third iteration of its watch - the Apple Watch Series 4 - along with the Apple Watch 3 and the Apple Watch 4, a report claimed. The third variant could arrive as the 'S4' to further differentiate it from the other versions and a 'Series 4 Sport' with the chassis being thinner than the standard Apple Watch. The new watch will likely feature the A12X Bionic chip that powers the latest Apple MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. It is reported to be 20 percent faster with twice the graphics performance. The second version will reportedly see a price cut. What to Expect from Apple in September

Despite the year-on-year decline in iPhone shipments, analysts predict that Apple will continue to sustain its own shipments. Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri has said that Apple will see an 11 percent market share increase in iPhone sales for the second quarter of 2018. In addition to this, he says that he sees a year-on-year increase in total iPhone revenue as well in the current quarter. In a separate note to investors, Wedbush Securities' Daniel Ives has reiterated his September quarter estimates from earlier and said that he expects the second quarter 2018 iPhone shipments to be just below 35 million units with China demand picking up ahead of the iPhone 13 launch. Arcuri has said that the launch of the iPhone 13 with a 6.
