ASUS announced a price increase on graphics cards and motherboards

Juan Jose Guerrero, ASUS technical product manager, said this on Facebook.

The second half of 2020 has been a very mixed bag for the PC industry. On the one hand, we saw the release of new GeForce RTX 30-series graphics cards from NVIDIA and Radeon RX 6000 from AMD, as well as Ryzen 5000 processors. At the same time, the launch of these new products was overshadowed by their acute shortage. Although the manufacturers promised that the situation in 2021 will change for the better, the beginning of the year, apparently, will be difficult for everyone. At least one of the leading component manufacturers announced an upcoming price increase.

In its statement ASUS noted that the rise in prices for its components is due to several factors. One of them is an increase in the price of components used to assemble and manufacture certain products. In addition, operating costs have risen, logistics costs have increased, and import tariffs continue to rise.

The extent of the price hike can be seen in the changes in the official ASUS U.S. store. For example, ROG Strix 3090 OC graphics card became $1980, while recently its price was $1800, and TUF 6800 XT OC was $970 instead of $810. About the same extent other prices have also changed, the updated price list for video cards of the company looks as follows:

ROG-STRIX-RTX3090-O24G-WHITE: $2109,99

ROG-STRIX-RTX3090-O24G-GAMING: $ 1979.99

RTX3090-24G-EK: $2014.99

TUF-RTX3090-O24G-GAMING: $1839,99

ROG-STRIX-RTX3080-O10G-WHITE: $1049,99

ROG-STRIX-RTX3080-O10G-GAMING: $929.99

RTX3080-10G-EK: $999.99

TUF-RTX3080-O10G-GAMING: $859,99

ROG-STRIX-RTX3070-O8G-WHITE: $779,99

ROG-STRIX-RTX3070-O8G-GAMING: $699,99

RTX3070-8G-EK: $729.99

TUF-RTX3070-O8G-GAMING: $649,99

KO-RTX3070-O8G-GAMING: $639.99

DUAL-RTX3070-O8G: $599.99

ROG-STRIX-RTX3060TI-O8G-GAMING: $599,99

TUF-RTX3060TI-O8G-GAMING: $529.99

KO-RTX3060TI-O8G-GAMING: $519,99

DUAL-RTX3060TI-O8G: $499.99

It should be recalled that the world is still in the midst of a prolonged coronavirus pandemic. Supply and logistics problems have become a real headache for every major global manufacturer. It is very likely that the example of ASUS in the near future will be followed by other companies producing computer components. And the rise in prices for their products will be due to the same factors reported by the Taiwanese manufacturer.

Thus, in the nearest future we should expect the growth of price tags on already scarce stock of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series graphics gas pedals and AMD Radeon RX 6000, which have been selling much higher than their recommended price from the very start. It is very likely that there will also be a price increase on current 500-series motherboards from Intel and AMD in the near future.
