US Senator Marsha Blackburn said that US President Joe Biden is acting inconsistently in building relations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. She wrote this on her Twitter.
"Joe Biden used to speak harshly about Russia when he was not yet president of the US. Now that he has to face Putin in person, he's giving up," Blackburn wrote.
She also stressed that Biden "has carried out more orders from Putin than the needs of the citizens of the United States.
Earlier, talks between Putin and Biden were held in a video conference format. They lasted two hours.
During the conversation, the US president expressed concerns to Washington and its European allies over the alleged strengthening of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border.
As the White House noted, the US president threatened his Russian counterpart with a tough response in case of military escalation in Ukraine. The Kremlin said that Putin demanded that Biden not shift all responsibility to Moscow, as well as give guarantees that the North Atlantic Alliance would not expand to the east.
