BMW has presented the most powerful and fastest version of the "charged" sedan M5, called Competition. The novelty joined the respective modifications of the M4 coupe and convertible, as well as the M3 sedan.
BMW M5 Competition is equipped with an upgraded 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 unit, whose output has increased from 600 to 625 horsepower. The torque remains the same at 750 Nm and is available from 1,800 to 5,860 rpm (previously at 5,600 rpm). The engine is combined with an improved eight-speed transmission.
The sedan can accelerate from a standing start to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard model. Acceleration from a standing start to 200 km/h now takes 10.8 seconds - 0.3 seconds faster than the standard M5. The maximum speed is 305 km per hour.
The novelty is equipped with a modified M-suspension, where, in particular, used stiffer springs and shock absorbers. Ground clearance became seven millimeters less. The standard equipment of the car includes an active rear M-differential and sports exhaust system.
