BroDaddy : Fun One Time Watch

Released on Hotstar, this Republic Day,BroDaddy is a family comedy directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran in his sophomore effort after 2018's Lucifer which also starred Mohanlal.Basic premise was well hidden by the makers in pre-release promo material, made it look very different from the actual story which has Father of the Bride ll vibes(ever hilarious) along with our own desi Badhai Ho.

Starting with music,I liked the songs when I heard them but I can't quite remember them now, picturization was effective but not special, which doesn't matter in an OTT release like this one was.

Mohanlal-Meena's pairing is evergreen and lights up every scene they're together in,even though Meena has less screen space, technically speaking, the comics in the opening credits were a good touch. As expected,Mohanlal is in top comedic form and is handled in a way reminiscent of his 80s,90s family comedy days, especially the Priyadarshan family comedies, the comfort he shares with the screen,as John Kattadi,is hard to miss, with the veteran actor literally jumping and smiling in each scene.Prithviraj Sukumaran juggles the director and actor roles perfectly as the helming force as well as the arrogant, confused Eesho John Kattadi.

In directorial terms, the rawness of Lucifer has been transformed into the glossy sheen and confidence of Bro Daddy.

The actresses have done their part flawlessly, the two Annas (Meena and Kalyani Priyadarshan),still, they honestly have a slightly limited role, because the movie belongs to the troika of Mohanlal, Prithviraj and Lalu Alex.

Lalu Alex in particular is adept at making the audience fear his antagonism and then within seconds he makes the audience laugh at him, sympathize with him,he is the stand out performer of this film Soubin Shahir's cameo as a quirky wedding planner is delightful,Unni Mukundan's cameo is unremarkable.

All in all,the movie is a time pass film,a good one time watch.
