But, apparently, my brain is completely screwed up.

I was in love with a very pretty girl who was a dispatcher at a truck depot. He was so in love with her that he could neither sleep nor eat, and she just laughed at him, rejected all his advances and ostentatiously threw away the flowers. Bumped up to her for a few months, and all to no avail.

One of his colleagues, who observed the situation, took the guy aside and told him that there is a village near Zagorsk (now Sergiev Posad) where a grandmother lives, who has a miracle-working icon in her house. If this icon is prayed to, it will hundred percent help in love affairs. Go, go, grandmother will not refuse, let me to the icon, and then invite me to the wedding. And he gave me the address. Andrew was an ordinary Soviet guy, a Komsomol member, from an ordinary Soviet atheist family, had never been to church or seen an icon "live". But, apparently, his mind went completely crazy, because he went to that village.

Found a grandmother, said he had been told about her icon, asked to let him pray. Grandmother - such a clean old woman of 80 - and really let him in. Led him into the house, the icon, draped with a cloth, opened. The icon is small, dark, shows that the old, it depicts some gray-haired man with a beard (in the saints Andrew, of course, did not know). "And how to pray?" - he asked.

The grandmother replied that just describe what you need and ask for help. As you wish, in your own words. She left the room herself.

And when he went out, his grandmother said: "You did not pray to a saint, you prayed to your lord. Now the deed is done, he will help, but you only need to confirm the prayer. Go back to the icon and put a coin under it, at least a penny, then everything will come true, what you asked. And if you do not confirm - not only will you lose that girl, but you will lose your life for two months. Andrew was really fucked up then, he said something like "you're a crazy old woman, I will not confirm anything, go to hell". In other words, of course, but the essence is the same. The old woman replied: "Well, as you know, only you have already prayed, look. Andrew spat and left, regretting that he had believed and wasted his day off.

He went to his colleague at work and asked him why he had sent him to see the psychiatric patient. And his colleague said that he had no idea what he was talking about. He had not sent him anywhere, he had not heard anything about any goddamn money, no icons, were you out of your mind, did he have any pain? Either he was lying or he knew something else.

And in two weeks that girl quit her job and left for another city. About a month later Andrei was run over by a car at work. The driverless Moskvich "heels" rolled backwards in a flat place and crushed him against the wall, breaking his hip and ribs. Fortunately, they noticed it quickly, rolled the car back and called an ambulance. After he was released from the hospital and sick leave, Andrei quit his job and moved to another organization.

Then, when religion had already "come out of hiding," and Andrew was able to see many different icons, he realized that the one he was praying to did not have a halo on it, and that the grandmother, when she opened the icon, neither crossed herself, nor invited him to do so.

But, all in all, all ended well, my uncle's friend was still alive two years ago, and everything was fine with him.
