Due to defect in genes of any of the parent which is transmitted to the offspring. 
Disease, down syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, mental illness. 


Congenital Factors 

Due to defect in the development, hereditary factors, or prenatal infection present at birth.

• Atresia and Fistula 
• Pyloric stenosis 
• Hernia
• Phimosis 
• Spinal bifida 


Allergic Causes 

Due to abnormal response of body to chemical or protein substances or to physical stimuli 
Example 
Drugs side effects, over dose, drugs allergy. 
Disease 
• Asthma 
• Rhinitis 
• Liver toxicity 


Metabolic Causes 

Due to disturbances or abnormality in the process of metabolism 
Example 
Diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism. 


Deficiency Causes 

Results from inadequate intake or decrease absorption of essential dietary factors,

• Vitamin D deficiency diseases

• Anaemia

Traumatic Causes 

Due to injury 
Example 
• Fracture 
• Head injury 


Psychological Causes

• Schizophrenia

Due to microbes infections 
Example 
• Bacterial infection (TB, Diphtheria, typhoid)
• Viral infection (Measles, Chickenpox, AIDS)
• Fungal infection (Candidiasis, Fungal pneumonia)
• Parasitic infection (Malaria, plague, filaria)


Non plastic 

Due to abnormal or uncontrolled growth of cells 
Example, tumours


Idiopathic 

Cause is unknown, self originated, or spontaneous origin.

Degenerative 

Results from the degenerative changes that occurs in tissue and organs 
Example, liver cirrhosis, arthritis. 


Latrogenic 

Results from the treatment of disease 
Example, chemotherapy side effects, alopecia, diarrhoea.
