Marine mammals such as the dolphins and manatees suffered from respiratory issues and poisoning from the dangerous and toxic chemicals in the oil.
The 2010 oil spillage had a long lasting effects on the eco-systems of the Gulf of Mexico - coral reefs, seagrass beds and man grove forests were smothered by the oil, leading to wide spreade habitat destruction.
