"The theatrical slot issue mainly arises for the mid-range Kannada films where, despite all the good reviews and first-week performance, one has to still fight for space in the subsequent weeks. While exhibitors and distributors mostly offer the sharing/percentage model to other filmmakers, medium-scale Kannada films are compelled to go with the rent-based model to push their films ahead. Multiplexes give you 9 a.m. shows when they know that the audience turn-out for shows so early in the day is poor for our kind of films - these slots work well only for big releases."
But on the other hand, films of other regions get top priority, and exhibitors continue to screen their films despite a drop in performance.
