Edmonton restaurant is surprised by Canadian actor Simu Liu

Over the years, he has worked on a range of projects, from animated TV episodes to feature films. The animated movie "The Killing Joke," which is based on the well-known DC Comics narrative arc of the same name, is one of his most well-known creations. Liu's reputation as a talented director was cemented by the critical acclaim the movie received for both its gorgeous animation and its fidelity to the original source material.

Liu has directed a number of well-known animated movies for DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, including "The Killing Joke," "Batman: Year One," and "Reign of the Supermen." In numerous well-known animated programs, such as "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "The Legend of Korra," he has also worked as a storyboard artist.

Liu is a highly sought-after director and artist in the animation industry because of his attention to detail, talent for visual storytelling, and capacity for bringing complicated characters to life. For his work on "The Legend of Korra" and "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," he received Primetime Emmy Awards, among other honors.

Simu Liu, a Canadian actress, accepted the restaurant's invitation to dinner, which left the staff at Edmonton's south Hanjan restaurant star-struck and delighted.

According to Hallie Trono, a waitress at Hanjan, "so my friend (Jola Besana), she made the sign indicating that one table is reserved for Simu Liu, and then she took a video and uploaded it to Instagram on our page, and then he commented stating that he was down to come."

Just before restaurant closing time on Friday at 11 p.m., the Marvel superhero appeared at the restaurant near 37th Avenue and 99th Street.

"I believe all of the patrons became somewhat quieter. Everyone was probably staring at him, I'm pretty sure," Trono remarked. I made an effort to act as normally as I could.

He genuinely requested a lot of recommendations. They placed many orders. They requested some seafood pancakes and several of our best-selling meals, like cheese buldak and corn cheese, according to Trono.

Once Liu arrived straight from the airport, the staff members took turns serving him.

We felt quite honored that we served as his first lunch when he was in Edmonton.

Liu was in Edmonton to preside over Monday night's Juno Awards ceremony at Rogers Place. He is one of several artists who have contributed to the city's buzz this week.

The number of volunteers for all the Juno events astounded the organizers.

"The need for volunteers was enormous. Renee Williams, co-chair of the Junos Host Committee, said, "We had 700 applicants, which is just wonderful, and we had 220 volunteers selected to support the Junos and all the events leading up to Juno Week.

Everyone wants a piece of the action in town, from airport greeters to shuttle drivers and ticket takers, in any way they can.

"I mean, the volunteers turn out; this is who Edmonton is." Young and old, families, and individuals from beyond the area have all come to volunteer, according to Williams.

The economic impact of the Juno festivities is expected to be $12 million in Edmonton.
