England beat India in Birmingham Test

The hosts easily beat India by seven wickets on the fifth day of the Test match with the help of brilliant batting by Root and Bairstow.

England easily beat India by seven wickets in the Birmingham Test on Monday as they continued their winning streak starting in the summer season.

India's batting, which cricket experts consider to be the top batting line, looked scattered in the Birmingham Test and could not withstand the blows of the English bowlers.

Although Rishbh Punt and Ravindra Jadeja tried to heal the wounds to some extent, the bowlers could not do much.

The Birmingham Test is not part of a series but a deferred Test match of last year's Pataudi Trophy, which could not be played after COVID case was reported and as part of the ICC Test Championship, played in Birmingham.

The bad news for India before the start of the Test match was that captain Rohit Sharma's COVID test was positive and he was replaced by fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah as the new interim captain.

After 40 years in the Indian team, a fast bowler was appointed captain. Earlier, Kapil Dev was the last such captain.

For Bumrah as India's 36th captain, although the first Test was marred by defeat, but starting in a very poor family, there could be no greater honor for Bumrah to captain India and give him a future. Is being called the permanent captain of

Prior to the Birmingham Test, the spectators knew that England had been given a new lease of life by the nexus of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum and the way in which the strong New Zealand team had been knocked out. No big deal.

For the Asian teams, England's weather and the humidity of the air make batting on balls spinning like dancing on a mirror and then in this test the English bowlers adopted the strategy of the Australian bowlers.

He used short pitch balls more than swinging the ball because Indian players get upset with him.

Birmingham's pitch is conducive to batting but it is always difficult to bat first and that is what happened when five batsmen returned for 98 runs, including Virat Kohli who was thirsty for runs.

He was so spoiled that Punt and Jadeja froze. Punt plays aggressively and his style works.

First, Jimmy Anderson, Stuart Broad, and Pott, then Jack Leach.

The most important event of the match was Broad's 35 runs in an over. Bumrah set a new record by scoring 35 runs in an over.

The Indian camp was satisfied with 416 runs in the first innings and the satisfaction was further strengthened when England's top order was shattered.

When the first five batsmen of the host team returned to the pavilion for 83 runs, the Indian team was happy but then Johnny Barstow took over the task of getting the England boat out of the whirlpool and scored the third century of the season.

Thanks to his century, England somehow reached 284 runs.

A 132-run lead in the first innings could have been decisive if India had scored 300 in the second innings.

Rahul Dravid may have been wishing, but the tide turned in the opposite direction and India's batting once again became a picture of the situation.

The Indian batsmen looked upset on the short pitch balls. Although Pujara and Punt scored half-centuries, the rest of the batsmen remained a model of despair and the series stopped at 245 and gave England a target of 378.

England had not yet reached the target of 378 and then looking at Indian bowling it was not easy but the same pitch which was a killer for the Indian batsmen became the home ground for the host batsmen.

First, openers Alex Liz and Zack Crowley gave the gift of century runs and then the most successful pair of the season Johnny Barstow and Joe Root became alarm bells for the Indians.

The way Barstow is playing has made him a winner. Whenever he comes on the pitch, he brings the promise of victory.

Root is currently the number one batsman in the world with his excellent form. Both made Indian bowling helpless. The two's 268-run partnership gave England their third consecutive victory.

Root scored his 28th century, the third in the series. He played an unbeaten innings of 141 runs.

Barstow scored another century in a Test match, his 12th, and the first time he scored a century in both innings of a match.

The breakdown of the Indian team and the failure of the team's most important batsman Kohli has put his career in jeopardy.

India, ranked third with 77 points, have also struggled to reach the final of the ICC Test Championship.
