Fairphone smartphones are not particularly well known, but they have been around for six years. They have a specific positioning and a number of features that are actually unique to the market.

Today, the company introduced the Fairphone 4. The new model has retained all the advantages of the old model, while becoming more modern. Let's start with the usual parameters. The device is based on the Snapdragon 750G, that is, with the performance here is all right, as well as with support for 5G. There is 6 or 8 GB of RAM, there is 128 or 256 GB of flash memory. The IPS display is 6.3 inches with Full HD+. There is no high frame rate. There is also a 25 megapixel front and, interestingly, two 48-megapixel cameras on the back. One is the main camera, and the other works as a widescreen.

The battery capacity is small - 3905 mAh, but there is a 30-watt charger. Also the battery is removable, but about that below. There is also NFC, moisture protection (IP54), certified MIL-STD-810G, it all runs Android 11, and the dimensions are 162 x 75.5 x 10.5 mm and weighs 225 g. For everything they ask a lot for such parameters 580 euros.

So what's the feature? Well, as already mentioned, first of all, there is a removable battery. But this is not a feature in itself. It's a consequence of the design of the smartphone, which implies the ability to easily disassemble it. Last year's model and the one before that at iFixit scored 10 out of a possible 10, something no other device has managed to do. This will clearly be no worse. At least the creators themselves say that the French Repairability Index gave the novelty 9.2 points out of 10, while the last model got them 8.7 points.

The smartphone isn't just easy to take apart. You can easily buy separately not only the battery (30 euros), but also the front camera (30 euros), the main camera module (80 euros), speakers, USB-C port, display and everything else. And then there's that five-year warranty. In addition, the company focuses on environmental friendliness, making donations to various funds related to environmental protection, as well as recycling electronic waste.

By the way, the package contains nothing but a smartphone and documentation. There is not even the usual cable, let alone a charger.
