Step-by-step preparation of the recipe - Fluffy Donuts in the oven

Step #1.
In a bowl mix warm milk (about 37 degrees), sugar and dry yeast. If you are not sure about your yeast, leave the mixture for about 15 minutes. If the liquid bubbles up, it means the yeast is good and you can knead the dough. If there is no foamy cap, it means the yeast is not active and should be replaced with other yeast.
Add the egg and vanilla sugar and mix everything well.

Step #2.
To avoid clogging the dough with flour, first sift 400 g of flour (if necessary, you can add another 50 g when kneading the dough). Add salt. Knead.

step #3.
Once the flour is mixed, in portions add soft butter to the dough, knead the dough by hand.

Step #4.
The dough is soft and does not stick to your hands. Grease a bowl and dough with vegetable oil, cover it with cling film and leave in a warm place for 1 hour to rise.

Step #5.
Knead dough to rise, lay it on a work surface and turn into an envelope. Cover with cling film or napkin and leave on table for 15 minutes.

Step #6.
Cover work surface and dough with a little flour. Roll out the dough into a 0.5 cm thick layer.
Cut out circles of equal size from the dough using a mould of about 8 cm in diameter (you can use a glass or goblet).
Inside the circles, cut out small circles (using a pastry cutter or a lid from a plastic bottle). From the rest of the dough we also make donuts. I made a total of 18 doughnuts.

Step #7.
Place donuts on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spaced apart from each other. Cover with a napkin and let stand for 30 minutes.
Then you can brush donuts with a mixture of eggs and milk, or eggs only, or milk for a crusty appearance.

Step #8.
Bake donuts in an oven preheated to 190 degrees, for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.
As soon as they are brown, take them out of the oven and place on a rack until they have cooled completely.

Step #9.
Sprinkle powdered sugar on top of cooled donuts.
