Should I change OS or switch browsers? Google Chrome will soon leave Windows 7 support starting January 15, 2022. The browser has become a tool that laptop, PC, and smartphone users often use to explore cyberspace. Until now, many browser applications are available for free. However, Google Chrome is one of the most popular browsers. Created by the technology giant Google, this browser provides an easy experience for users to explore the virtual world.
The interface is also quite easy to understand, especially for new users. Google Chrome is also available for various platforms, such as Android, iOS, Windows, Linux to macOS. Talking about Google Chrome, there is bad news from this browser. Because, 2022 is not a good year for Google Chrome users, especially on Windows 7. From the official Google Cloud page, support for Google Chrome which has been extended in Windows 7 will end soon. Originally scheduled to expire on July 15, 2021, it finally got a six-month extension.
Inevitably, users who want to stay safe using Google Chrome must upgrade to a higher version of Windows. Like Windows 8, 8.1, 10, or 11 most recently. However, Google added, Google Chrome enterprise users will still get security and stability support until 2023. Can Google Chrome still be used in Windows 7 in the future?
If it's just used, it might still work, but with a note that it doesn't get updates or updates. As such, there is no guarantee of security or stability of running Google Chrome on Windows 7 from 2022. The only way if you want to keep using Google Chrome is to change or upgrade your OS to a higher version of Windows.
However, if you use a laptop or PC whose specifications are quite heavy to run a version of Windows on it, you can choose to use a different browser.
