How to make homemade granola
Ingredients:
Oat flakes - 300 g
Nuts - 150 gr
Dried fruits - 100 gr
Honey - 2,5 tbsp.
Vegetable oil - 2.5 tbsp.
Step 1.
Granola is based on oat flakes, nuts, and dried fruit. The honey in the recipe acts as a sweetener, and the vegetable oil helps the oat flakes not stick together.
Instead of dried fruit or nuts, you can use pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds. You can also add sesame seeds or coconut shavings.
The main thing for granola is to take regular oat flakes NOT instant oats. Those that cook for 2-3 minutes will not do, because with them granola will not be crumbly and really tasty.
Step 2
Chop the nuts (I took walnuts) with a knife or chop them with a hammer into small pieces.
Step 3
Rinse the dried fruit (it can be raisins, cranberries, dried apricots) well and pour warm water. I chose light seedless raisins.
Step 4.
In a deep bowl, mix together the oatmeal and chopped nuts.
Step 5.
Add the honey and vegetable oil.
Step 6.
Stir with your hands, thoroughly combining the dry part with the honey and oil. You should get a rather sticky mass that will look lumpy.
Step 7.
Place the granola in a mold or baking pan. The container in which the granola will be baked does not need to be lined with parchment paper.
Preheat the oven to 130-150 degrees. Bake the oatmeal for 30-35 minutes.
Step 8.
Every 7-8 minutes, stir the granola with a spoon or wooden spatula. This is very important! The granola should bake well and evenly.
Step 9
Five minutes before the granola is ready, add raisins or cranberries dried on paper towels to the granola. Immediately after the oven, the granola will seem moist, but as it cools, it will become crumbly and crunchy.
Step 10.
Transfer the cooled granola to a jar or container with an airtight lid. Store in the refrigerator for no more than two weeks.
Eat granola with yogurt or milk (hot or cold), fresh berries and fruit. You can also stuff an apple with granola and bake it in the oven, or mix granola with cottage cheese and sour cream.
Using different nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts), as well as a variety of dried fruits, you can get a new type of granola every time. Add a pinch of cinnamon or other spices and you get a brighter and richer flavor.
