California resident Noreen Vredberg and her husband went on vacation to an Arkansas national park. During the trip, Wredberg remembered that Diamond Crater State Park was nearby and decided to take a walk through it. Just 40 minutes into her walk, the American woman discovered the sparkling gem on the ground and handed it to her husband. According to park employee Caleb Howell, the stone found was the largest diamond found in the crater in 2021. "When I first saw this diamond under the microscope, I thought, what a beautiful shape and color it has," Howell said. Wredberg said she hasn't yet decided what she will do with the find. The woman named the stone Lucy after her husband's ginger cat. More than 250 diamonds were reported in the state park in 2021. On average, visitors found about two diamonds a day. According to park officials, the largest stone at 40.23 carats was found in 1924. After it was cut, it was sold to private collectors for $150,000 (11 million rubles). The park "Diamond Crater" is located on the site of an extinct volcano. It is the only accessible deposit of these stones in the world.
