He smelled "the smell of blood: Kobolev explained how Putin is trying to deprive Ukraine of gas.
Russia is purposely "drying up" the European market so that resources would not go to Ukraine.
The former head of "Naftogaz of Ukraine" Andriy Kobolev said that thanks to the "Nord Stream-2" Russia manipulates the gas market and not only affects European prices, but also deprives Ukraine of resources.
He said this on the air of the talk show "Free Speech Savik Shuster" on the TV channel "Ukraine".
"Now the world is in a global energy crisis and we cannot influence it. We can influence the situation with "Nord Stream-2". Unfortunately, such an important element as sanctions against the operator and sanctions against the head of this operator was lost, which allowed this project to move forward," Kobolev said.
According to him, the construction of this project and its progress was one of the main reasons why Russia now behaves this way. We are talking about the gas blackmail of Europe and the situation with gas transit through Ukraine, or rather, bypassing our country.
"Putin has trivially smelled blood. He understands that at the moment he can win. For this victory, Russia is conducting a so-called special operation on the European gas market. It's called "we're drying out the European market," he believes.
Thus, Russia deprives Europe of any possibility to receive gas and resell it to Ukraine. This is a problem for Ukraine, because it may get into the "risk zone. If the need arises, Ukraine will not be able to purchase gas from European partners.
