It can be a real hassle trying to find foreign language shows with subtitles. It can be even more difficult to find shows available for free in your region. That's why I've compiled a list of seven (7) Chinese YouTube channels that cater to non-Chinese speaking viewers by proving a wide range of Chinese dramas with subtitles.
1.YOUKU/ YOUKU English
With a combined number of subscribers reaching almost 5 million and with over 36,499 videos, YOUKU/ YOUKU English is a fantastic place to find a wide variety of Chinese dramas for your viewing pleasure.
The channel has a wide selection of genres to choose from, such as historical dramas, idol dramas, mysteries, romance, etc..
2. MangoTV Drama
MangoTV Drama is like the wonderland of Chinese dramas with a large number of playlists of very popular/mainstream Chinese dramas. The best part is that these dramas have been subbed in english and neatly organized so that they're easy to locate. Go MangoTV Drama!
3. iQiyi
iQiyi is another Chanel that boasts a huge following with over 4.5 million subscribers, and for good reason. The channel contains dramas starring some of China's top stars such as AngelaBaby, Johnny (Huang Jingyu) and many more.
It's important to note that iQiyi has implemented a "members only" playlist for some of the most popular dramas on the channel. However, there are still plenty of dramas on the channel that are available to watch. The channel also has variety shows that might peak your interest.
4. WeTV English
WeTV not only has an English channel to cater to English speakers but also has separate channels catering to those in Indonesia, Malaysia, etc..
As far as I've seen on the channel, all the dramas on WeTV are free to watch. The channel has over 100 plalylists containing fully subbed dramas across a broad range of genres. This includes full-length hit dramas and microdramas.
Aside from Chinese dramas, WeTV also lists other Asian content on their platform with English subtitles.
5. Fresh Drama
Fresh Drama is the next on the list with a great selection of Chinese dramas. The channel also offers a huge collection of playlists based on genre or mood. Note that these playlists don't contain full episodes but rather clips from various dramas.
The channel does have a number of full-length dramas as well as shorter dramas. Which is convenient for those days where you just want to have a binge-fest.
Another cool and interesting aspect of Fresh Drama is that they offer English dubbed dramas as well!
6. Tencent Video/ Tencent Video-ROMANCE
This channel has a staggering number of subscribers, execeeding over 6 million. Tencent Video/ Tencent Video-ROMANCE, like iQiyi has a "members only" selection with some of its most popular dramas. However, it too, has a wide variety of freely available dramas with English subtitles.
The channel also provides behind the scenes clips of some dramas, and I don't know about you, but I'm definitely a fan of watching actors break character and get up to all kinds of shenanigans on set.
7. Croton MEGA HIT
Croton MEGA HIT offers full episode playlists of a large range of dramas. The channel has a wide selection of popular dramas as well as playlists containing behind the scenes footage. Croton Media caters to Southeast Asia as well, providing shows with Vietnamese dub, Arabic dub, etc..
*Note that these channels haven't been listed in any particular order of best to worst or vice versa. They are all great sources of dramas.
