So, let's dive in,

What is Procrastination? This term 'Procrastination' is derived from the Latin verb that is 'Procrastinare' and it means to put off until tomorrow. In simple words, The act or habit of delaying, putting off,or procrastinating, an important work that should be done immediately is known as Procrastination. In the words of William Knaus,

Procrastination is, "An automatic problem habit of putting off an important and timely activity until another time. It's  a process that has probable consequences".

How do we Procrastinate?

Some of the examples of Procrastination (that you can relate with) are as follows:

  • I will do this assignment tomorrow.
  • Let's watch Netflix now, i have enough time for this boring project.
  • Oh! Dieting, I'll start doing it from next week.

I don't have time now but tomorrow, I promise, I'll organise my closet.

Why do we  Procrastinate?

  • Distractions:In this Social Media era, we get distracted even from a single notification on our mobile. The time when your mobile notifies you about your social media account, either you got likes on your post or someone followed you, it is mot less than a victory and it is obvious that you will procrastinate and will leave your work.
  • No Motivation:No motivation leads to procrastination. When you don't find any motivation for doing your work, you will delay it. Here, Intrinsic Motivation and Extrinsic Motivation plays avery prominent role.
  •  Fear: When the project or assignment that is given to you is difficult or it seems diffiult, then it creates fear in your mind. You start thinking about it' adverse affects that you'll probably do it wrongly or you'll not be able to submit it on time. Then, you Procrastinate that work.
  • Time will not stop: Time is running and it will not stop for you. If you don't value time, it's your problem. Procrastination is done by those people who don't give value to time.
  • Lack of Interest:  Lack of interest in any task, work or project leads to procrastination. Think of that subject which was boring for you in your school time. Did you Procratinate too?

How to stop Procrastinating?

  • Keep all the distractions away (like Mobile phone)
  • Find some Motivation in every work you do.
  • Don't be afraid of mistakes because they are part of your life and you learn from your mistakes.
  • Time is important, consider its value
  • Apply 'The Five Seconds Rule', if the work seems tiring and boring just count 5-4-3-2-1-0 and go or start your work. It is effevtive, must try it.

So, this is all about Procrastination. I hope now, you'll be able to figure it out if you are Procrastinating or not and if you are, then how to stop it.
