How do you defeat evil? The Simple Way

If we are wronged, we are expected to feel great indignation. The offense searingly burns the heart, and we strive to return the pain to our abuser. And then the law of communicating vessels applies, because we and our offender, entering into the confrontation, become carriers of one spirit, only exchanging, as in a duel, shots of negativity.

The arrows of evil are always poisoned: they not only wound, but also infect the victim. Immunity is required here, otherwise the fight against evil is doomed to failure. We have been insulted - we pay with the same coin. There is anger, hatred, aggression in us. All of our creativity at the moment of conflict is focused on finding the most sophisticated weapons possible to "extinguish" our opponent. And the fuel in us is the very evil we have accepted from the opposing side. The question of who wins in a heated conflict can always be answered with one answer: the devil. He is the master and father of evil.

"But I say to you, do not resist evil" (Matthew 5:39), Christ tells us. But what is He talking about? Is He suggesting that we fence off the mass of the world's injustice and live our lives in peace, ignoring the lawlessness that is happening right now? No, the Savior said exactly what He said. Do not resist - it means give up the model of evil in the fight against evil. Let it act by its own methods, while we will choose more reasonable tools to neutralize it.

If we enter the conflict filled with anger, it means that the law of attraction has worked. And the offending person hit the target exactly when we reacted in a mirror image. But try to let the arrow of evil fly through you and fall powerlessly to the ground. Keep your composure. Break the pattern of the abuser. Ask Christ, as he asked the high priest who struck his servant, what you owe this insolence. Turn the conflict into a joke. Ignore the words. Walk away. The best fight is the one that didn't happen.

Responding to evil with evil only makes more evil in the world. And we need to create a space of light spirit, for which Christians have always been famous. Be firm, courageous, consistent, confident in standing up for honor and dignity. Stand up for the weak and stop lawlessness. But don't let anger saddle your inner state, decision making, and actions. Our war is not waged against other people, but against spirits. When we say "spirit," we think of a disembodied being that one is nevertheless accustomed to visualizing. An angel looks bright and good, a demon looks dark and evil. Spirit is also what we call our spiritual and moral disposition. And here it is fair to say that a person may be under the influence of a good or an evil spirit.

Christianity fights for the victory of God's Spirit in each individual person. His victory by its very fact will at least prevent evil from passing over the barricades of good. Moreover, good can and should make the adherents of evil, domestic and ideological, its supporters, an example of demonstrating the highest human qualities, tilting them to the side of light. We cannot defeat evil by using its methods in return. We belong to a different spirit.
