How to clean white sneakers: tips and recommendations

Proper Care of Leather Sneakers and Sneakers

Despite the enormous popularity of modern synthetic materials, shoes made of genuine leather is unlikely ever to lose its relevance. Leather sneakers are easy to care for, retain their shape, do not overheat and allow the foot to breathe.

With proper care, white leather sneakers will last you more than one season and more than justify their cost.

Step 1: Before using your new pair of leather sneakers, it is advisable to treat your shoes with a special spray that protects against moisture and dust. Such sprays are sold in many shoe stores or in specialized shoe care sections.

Step 2: After each use, clean the surface and soles of your leather shoes from dust and dirt (if you get caught in the rain, let the shoes dry out). If you don't do this on a regular basis, the dirt will go deep into the material and seams and the process of cleaning the shoe will become much more difficult.

Step 3: Remove the laces and insoles from your sneakers, put them in a wash bag and run the wash on the delicate/sports mode with laundry detergent.

Step 4: To clean the upper, use a soft cloth soaked in warm water with liquid powder. If the dirt is deeply embedded in the sole, an old toothbrush or a brush with soft bristles will help.

Never use detergents with harsh chemicals or abrasives, you'll damage the leather the first time you clean it.

Step 5: Rinse the rag in warm, clean water and remove excess foam and streaks from the skin and sole.

Step 6: Dry your sneakers at room temperature by placing wooden pads or paper inside. These accessories will help absorb excess moisture and straighten out "wrinkles" and creases in the skin.

Step 7: After drying, lace up your sneakers and put the insoles in. After each shoe cleaning, we recommend using a spray that protects against moisture and dust, or a white/colorless cream (read more about specialized care and cleaning products in the next article).

What shouldn't you do?

1. Do not resort to washing leather sneakers in a washing machine: even the delicate washing mode can harm the material and cause deformation of the sneakers).

2. Dry your sneakers on the radiator or near heat sources (this can cause even the highest quality shoes to unravel).

Avoid wearing shoes on bare feet (by doing so, sneakers quickly absorb the smell of sweat, which will be difficult to get rid of).

Budget options for cleaning white leather sneakers

1. If your snow-white sneakers have stubborn stains or yellowing, you can use a folk remedy based on stain remover and gasoline (do not worry, the smell of gasoline will quickly disappear). To whiten sneakers, you should mix a stain remover with a small amount of gasoline, apply it to the yellowed areas with a cotton disc, after 10-15 minutes you should remove the solution with a damp cloth.

Lemon juice can also help to whiten yellowed areas and return the whiteness to your shoes. To do this, mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice with 2 spoons of water, soak a cotton pad or rag in the solution and wipe the necessary places.

3. Toothpaste will not only help clean the material, but will also do a great job on the soles. To clean your sneakers, apply a small amount of paste (white, no flecks) to the dirty spot and rub it in with a dry brush. Wash off the paste with a damp cloth and sponge.

4. Baking soda. Add a small amount of water to the powder until it forms a paste. Apply the product to the dirty areas with a brush, wash off with a damp cloth or sponge.

5. Micellar water is great not only for removing makeup, but also for removing minor dirt from your shoes.

Follow our advice, don't wear out your sneakers, and your shoes will please you more than one season.
