In this article, we will talk about how to get your first 1000 subscribers on YouTube for free. The question is by no means an idle one for me - now I myself want to get the first thousand subscribers for my new YouTube channel, on which the first video was released on June 7, 2020.
At the time of this writing, my channel has 195 subscribers out of the required 1000.
Like many, before creating my own YouTube channel, I was looking for information on channel promotion, their evaluation and how the first subscribers are recruited.
What should be done and how? How does YouTube channel promotion work?
To better understand this issue, I reviewed a mountain of training videos on YouTube, which told how to quickly gain 1000 subscribers on YouTube (someone even wrote that this can be done in 1 day or, at most, in 1 week).
The information from the video seemed frankly implausible and I took three paid courses about YT promotion. Instead of structured knowledge, a complete mess reigned in my head. For all the money, as they say 😁
In general, in all these courses they tell a lot of completely different principles, tips and recommendations for promoting YT channels. It seems like most of this is outright nonsense (we'll check).
In addition, there are simply too many different kinds of advice and recommendations, it is obvious that not all of them take place in reality and do not play a significant role.
And the bloggers who give these tips themselves gained their first 1000 subscribers back in 2011-2012, well, at least 2014 (!)
You look at this and think: “Do all the same mechanisms really work in 2020 ?!”
In general, I searched and searched and did not find answers to these questions. And I decided to figure it out on my own example and write this article. It would be more accurate to say even a series of articles about how my YouTube channel is gaining its first 1000 subscribers from scratch.
And not just write once, but share your ideas and feelings from the process of recruiting this thousand.
I will regularly publish reports and talk about what works and helps to gain subscribers on YouTube, and what has long been out of date and does not work.

How to get your first 1000 YouTube subscribers: Rules
So, in order to get my first 1000 subscribers, I chose only three simple rules for myself, which I decided to follow.
I. Regularity of video release
When I posted my very first video on the channel (June 7, 2020 - approx. AP), I decided that I would publish one video per week. It was completely incomprehensible how difficult it would be in fact all this together: to record videos, process them, and then upload them to the channel.
After 3-4 weeks, I realized that it was not so difficult.
In addition, I realized that posting only one video a week, I simply will not have time to publish all the content that I already have planned. It will become obsolete faster. As a result, I switched to 2 videos a week.
In general, there was a clear impression that regularity is very important for YouTube, YouTube is ready to give traffic to your channel only if the content on it is updated at regular intervals.
II. External traffic for new videos
On the channel, especially at the very start, you need to attract external traffic.
The fact is that the young channel simply does not have either a large number of subscribers or views of some old videos, so there is practically no one to watch new videos.
But you still need to take the first views from somewhere.
For this, I personally use my Telegram and Zen channels. I announce the release of new videos on the AP Telegram channel and publish full-text versions on Yandex.Zen and vc.ru

How the cross-posting process works: Telegram + Zen/vc.ru + YouTube
Three simple steps to prepare content:
In preparation for the recording of a new video, I write a short script of the main points that I will talk about in the video;
Immediately after recording the video, the text of the article for Zen and vc.ru is created from these points;
From the text of the article, its short version for Telegram is assembled.
As a result, having only one topic, it turns out to be a video, an article, and 1-2 posts in the Telegram channel.
Further, all these materials are published with links to each other - this is how cross-posting is formed. Due to this approach, the audience immediately gathers through different channels and the rate of subscriber growth increases.
Simple method, I highly recommend it.

III. Video optimization
We use the VidIQ plugin for the Google Chrome browser.
I use this plugin not even for video optimization anymore. the very term "optimization" in 2020 is already a little outdated, but rather to clarify the subject of the future video.
For example, I shoot something on the automotive theme and I need to use this plugin to clarify which specific car models are more profitable for me to start with. What are they looking for more and where is the competition lower?
A very useful thing that allows you to logically build your plan for publishing on YouTube and clarify the names of future videos.
