How to Make Prawn Curry With Coconut Milk [ চিংরি ম্যালাইকারি ] ? || Very Easy Recipe

Prawn Curry with Coconut Milk is popularly known as Chingri Malaikari in Bangladesh & West Bengali. It is commonly made using Tiger Prawns or Freshwater Prawns in thick creamy coconut milk gravy.

INGREDIENTS

• 1 kg Giant Tiger Prawn 

• 1 tbps Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder

• 2 - 3 Kashmiri Red Chilli / Normal Red Chilli

• 500 ml Coconut Milk ( pressed ) 

• 55 ml Vegetable oil

• 6 - 8 Pieces Cinemon

• 4 - 5 Pieces Cloves 

• 4 - 5 Pieces Bay Leaf

• 1½ tbps Pure Cow Ghee

• 200 g Onion ( paste )

• 20 g Ginger ( paste )

• Turmeric Powder

• 75 gm Sour Yoghurt

• 4 - 5 Pieces Green Chillie

• Salt

• 2½ tbps Sugar

PROCEDURE

PRAWN PREPERATION

• Remove the veins and shell out the prawns leaving the flavourful head of it. You guys can keep the shell's of it if you want.

• Then coat the prawns with salt ( as much required ) and 2 pinch turmeric powder and keep it.

GRAVY MAKING

• In a frying pan start heating the oil. As the oil gets hot leave the prawns in the oil one by one and fry them for about 1 minute both side. After its fried keep it at a side.

• In the same oil add bay leafs, cinemon, cardamon, few dry red chillies and few cloves and saute it. 

• Then after a few minutes add the onion paste and fry it for minimum 6 - 7 minutes until the onion becomes little brownish in colour.

• Then add the ginger paste and fry for another 5 - 6 minutes and add the red chilli powder, turmeric ( as much needed ) and few green chillies ( cut from middle ) and saute it continuously. 

• Add the beaten yoghurt into the pan and saute it continuously for about 5 minutes so that the yoghurt doesn't split and slower the heat of the oven and keep on adding the pressed coconut milk and keep on stirring the gravy so that it doesn't stick.

THE FINAL TOUCH

• Then add the pressed coconut milk and cover it with the lead for about 3 minutes. simmer for about 2 minutes. As the gravy starts boiling, add the prawns in it. As the gravy starts bubbling cover the lead for 10 - 15 minutes and off the oven.

GARNISHING

• Serve it with pinch of garam masala and 4 - 5 Pieces of green chillies ( cut from middle ).
