Computer viruses and malware have been in the world of computers ever since the internet was invented, these computer viruses and malware's main purpose is to hack and steal data from other computers which is done by hackers who are considered to be the best programmers in the IT industry. Mostly they target bank accounts, social media accounts, and corporate sabotage, some of them are just doing it for the thrill because it feeds their ego and pride that they cannot be traced on the internet and they are invincible in the process. Due to the advancement of technology viruses and malware have also been able to adapt despite having advanced security features in our computers such as premium anti-virus protection which are said to be invulnerable to malware and viruses.
Most people who use computers and the internet in their daily routines are not really familiar with how these viruses and malware operate, most of them think that if they have an antivirus their computers are already 100% safe which is not really the case because they are now disguised as a pop-up advertisement and even copying the logo and trademark of the antivirus software which can be really confusing and disturbing in the process. Most hackers used a McAfee pop-up advertisement that tells the user to click the icon due to an update required or their computer is infected this could easily get the attention of the user because in his/her mind McAfee is an antivirus program and it is safe to click, and by clicking this icon you might just enable the hacker to penetrate your computer and insert a virus and malware in the process.
This is the reason why computer and internet users must learn how to spot fake McAfee alerts because it can literally save you from potential hackers that usually go after your personal data. Mostly these fake McAfee alerts pop out when we are browsing the internet and navigating websites, hackers usually make them an alert so that the user might just click it due to panic, or when a user tries to close the advertisement it just keeps on popping up more advertisements or directs the user into a new website page which gets the user irritated in the process and just clicks the add to stop it, and perhaps the most common way is that user will see a pop-up advertisement telling him/her that he/she has won a certain prize because he/she has been the first or last visitor of a website.
If by accident the user clicks these fake McAfee pop-up advertisements it will enable a certain virus and malware that could generally infiltrate the computer system and steal very sensitive data such as bank accounts, sensitive files such as pictures and videos, and even corrupt the entire system making it unusable in the process. This leads to formatting the entire computer system in order for the virus and malware to be wipeout The process can literally take hours and cost money giving the user an additional burden which is why as responsible internet users we must never click any form of pop-up McAfee advertisement and if we do accidentally click it we must immediately shut down our browser and shut down our Wifi signal to prevent any more infiltration.
Another form of these fake McAfee alerts is in the form of web advertisement in a way that if a user clicks this fake McAfee alert it will give them a free upgrade, and money which are all fake because it is just a form of clickbait method to where they are taking advantage of the curiosity and lack of knowledge of certain users. After the user has clicked this false web McAfee advertisement he/she will be asked to download a certain application to be able to claim his/her reward, after the user has downloaded this application it will start to corrupt the entire computer system turning every file and application into a short cut key making the files and application unusable. Sometimes the entire user interface of the computer will be turned into an unfamiliar language which means that the user has started to clone the interface of the computer so that he/she would be able to copy all the files without the user knowing because it is in a different language.
Finally, there are the system tray notifications that usually pop up telling that your operating system is outdated and needs updating and the one telling all of these is the fake McAfee alert in general the operating system updates itself automatically and the legit antivirus application will not be responsible for telling the user that it needs certain updates. All of these can be avoided if we know to spot the real from the fake by simply getting the right knowledge legit McAfee software will not pop out while you are browsing the internet they usually pop out in the form of an application if the user has installed a legit McAfee antivirus, they are not giving any financial reward or upgrade by just simply browsing the internet, they do not install other applications aside from the McAfee antivirus itself, and they will give their certain news about upgrades and updates via there application only and not in the browser.
it is very important that we become responsible internet users and not just click something that pops up, we should first think before we click, a responsible internet user has a presence of mind. To be able to be safe from these cyberattacks we should install an antivirus such as McAfee, but still remain vigilant in the process. Because hackers will do anything to steal any relevant data in your computer which is why it is very important that we keep our computers up to date and clean from any virus and malware. Upgrading our antivirus every year is a must because hackers usually have the ability to adapt by bypassing these obsolete antivirus programs.
