How to transfer data from iPhone to iPhone

Step 1: Save your data

You can back up your information via iCloud or using iTunes on your computer. The appropriate copy will be used to transfer your data later.

How to back up iCloud

Open "Settings" on your iPhone and tap on your account icon.

Go to iCloud → "Backup".

Turn on the toggle switch of the same name and tap "Backup".

How to back up iTunes

Install the latest version of iTunes and use a cable to connect your iPhone to your computer.

Allow access on the smartphone.

Select iPhone in the iTunes devices menu.

If you want to save your Health and Activity data, check the "Encrypt backup" box and set a password. Don't forget the code or you won't be able to recover your information!

Click "Create a copy now" and wait for the process to finish.

Step 2: Detach the Apple Watch

If you have a watch connected to your iPhone, you must first break the pairing with your old smartphone in order to tether it to the new smartphone.

Open the Apple Watch app.

Click the My Watch tab and then click the ℹ️ icon.

Select "Break pair with Apple Watch" and confirm the action.

Step 3: Transfer information.

There are three ways to import data. Each will require a pre-created backup, but the nuances of the transfer process will differ slightly. In one case, you must have an old iPhone, in the other - a computer with iTunes, and in the third - an Internet connection.

1. Using the "Quick Start" function

If the new iPhone is already activated, first delete all data by going to Settings → Basic → Reset → Erase Content and Settings. If not, insert the SIM card into the smartphone and follow the setup wizard prompts.

Turn both iPhones on and place them next to each other. The "Quick Start" screen will appear on the new device, and the "Setup New iPhone" screen will appear on the old one.

Press "Continue" on the old smartphone and unlock it.

Wait for the animation to appear on the new iPhone and point the old one's camera at it.

Wait a few seconds and complete the setup on the new device.

Enter your Apple ID password and follow the prompts.

On the Programs and Data screen, select Restore from iCloud.

2. Using a copy of the data in iCloud

If the new iPhone is already activated, first delete all data by going to Settings → Basic → Reset → Erase Content and Settings. If not, insert the SIM card into the smartphone and follow the setup wizard prompts.

In the "Programs and data" screen, select "Restore from iCloud copy".

Log in to your Apple ID account.

Choose the backup you want from the list, based on date and size.

Wait for the restore process to complete and complete the setup.

3. Using a copy of the data in iTunes

If the new iPhone is already activated, first delete all data by going to Settings → Basic → Reset → Erase Content and Settings. If not, insert the SIM card into the smartphone and follow the setup wizard prompts.

In the "Programs and Data" screen, click "Restore from iTunes copy".

Connect the smartphone to your computer and select iPhone in the iTunes device menu.

Click "Restore from Copy" and specify the copy you want, guided by the date. Enter your password if necessary.

Wait for the process to complete and finish setting up.
