HUAWEI nova 11i review: beautiful and thin mid-range

The new HUAWEI nova 11i is a more affordable smartphone compared to the base and Pro versions of the model. Nevertheless, it is equipped with a large screen with minimal bezels, fast charging, a capacious battery and a good camera. Let's study it in action.

Appearance

The smartphone is available in two colors - mint green and shining black. HUAWEI nova 11i pleases with moderate dimensions for such an impressive diagonal, with a thickness of no more than 8.55 mm and a weight of 193 grams, so it is convenient to operate it with one hand. The sound rocker along with the power button, where the fingerprint scanner is integrated, are traditionally located on the right side. A hybrid SIM tray is visible on the top end - it supports the simultaneous use of two cards or one paired with a microSD drive. The bottom has a main speaker and a USB Type-C power socket. There is no headphone jack here. The back cover is made of matte to the touch plastic and shimmers beautifully in the light.

The camera block is made in the form of two large symmetrical dark rings, each of which contains a sensor. This part practically does not protrude from the case, so the HUAWEI nova 11i hardly wobbles on the table. The entire front side is occupied by a screen with a front camera embedded in the middle. The frames are almost invisible - no more than 1 mm on the sides and top, and only the bottom one is slightly wider than the rest. In general, the smartphone turned out to be nice and neat – without flashy design elements.

What's on the iron

The HUAWEI nova 11i has a 6.8-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080x2388 pixels and 90Hz support. There are no complaints about the display - the colors are natural, the animations are smooth, and the smallest text is easy to read. With brightness, everything is more or less standard: on a sunny day it can be difficult outside, but in other situations, the brightness margin is sufficient.

The heart of the gadget is the eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, which is paired with the Adreno 610 video accelerator. The smartphone has 8+3 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage on board. The processor is not a flagship, but it is enough even for resource-intensive applications and games. For example, the popular Tanks Blitz at high settings and with HD textures produces a pleasant 60 frames per second with small drawdowns up to 40. PUBG Mobile at medium-high settings is stable at 35-50 frames per second. Separately, I would like to note the heating, or rather its minimal presence - even in long sessions, HUAWEI nova 11i does not get hot, there are no performance drops. The smartphone scored 188,865 points in AnTuTu, and another 385 and 1658 points in Geekbench 5 in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. The throttling test failed to drop performance below 90 percent.

HUAWEI nova 11i has Bluetooth version 5.0 and NFC. Separately, I would like to praise the external speaker. Despite the lack of stereo, the gadget is equipped with improved algorithms and audio effects HUAWEI Histen 8.1, which allows you to raise the maximum volume to 88 dB.

Comfortable shell

HUAWEI nova 11i is running EMUI version 13.0.0 based on Android 13. The OS has long been known and does not present unpleasant surprises - the interface is polished to a shine. The settings menu is intuitive and uncluttered, the animations are pleasing to the eye, and there are a bunch of useful presets such as e-reader mode, digital balance, quick access, and gestures.

There are no Google services out of the box, but thanks to the GBox virtual environment, they can be easily installed in AppGallery. Also here you can download applications of Russian banks that are not available in the "traditional" Google Play, and in addition, payment for purchases within applications is supported.

How to shoot

The rear camera setup includes a 48MP f/1.8 sensor and a 2MP portrait sensor. Front camera - 16 MP, f / 2.2. The gadget can record videos in Full HD at 30 fps. But here, unfortunately, there is no 4K mode, as well as 60 fps. The camera app quickly saves images and switches modes. Despite the modest sensors, the nova 11i delivers quite pleasing results:

autonomy

HUAWEI nova 11i is equipped with a 5000mAh battery that supports 40W fast charging. From the complete adapter, the smartphone replenishes up to 60% of energy in 30 minutes. A full cycle lasts about 80 minutes.

In an hour of playing PUBG Mobile, the device was discharged by 15%, and in an hour of watching FHD videos on YouTube with maximum brightness, it lost 12 percent of the charge. The operating time of the gadget does not disappoint - the battery is more than enough for the whole day, even taking into account long gaming battles.
