The UN Food Systems Summit was the first global summit to specifically address healthy, sustainable, resilient, and equitable food systems and spur national-level food systems pathways. The UNFSS has put forward a large menu of potential game-changing solutions, sourced from stakeholders around the world, and a portfolio of relevant scientific papers including one on healthy diet. Also emerging from the UNFSS process is the Coalition for Action on Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems for Children and All, which aims to align, mobilize, and support impactful action by stakeholders across food systems.
The Coalition is being co-created by GAIN, EAT, WWF, CARE, WHO, UNICEF, FAO, UNEP, and WFP; supported by SUN, UN Nutrition, CARE and Club of Rome; and the group of Member States who have expressed their interest and support. The Coalition welcomes the full range of entry points and actions towards one shared vision: A world where all people are eating healthy diets from sustainable food systems, to promote the growth and development of individuals, communities, and nations today and into the future, while addressing climate change and biodiversity loss. Becoming a member of this Coalition implies committing to action. Therefore, through this side event, we aim to bring in more countries and other stakeholders. We will also aim to explore how the Coalition for Action on Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems for All can work with diverse food systems sectors and actors in support of national pathways for food system transformation while ensuring accountability for commitments made in support of the Sustainable Development Goals. This aligns to the N4G Vision and Roadmap and the core focus of the N4G summit to build food systems that promote healthy diets and nutrition.
