Born in Argentina

Jae was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When asked in an interview with Eric Nam on the Dive Studios YouTube account, through the program "Daebak Show," Jae admitted that he did not know why he was born in Argentina. He suspects that his mother was pregnant with Jae while working with his father there until he was born. After that, Jae and his family moved to Canada for a short time. They then moved to the United States, and decided to settle there. Before becoming a member of DAY6, he had never lived in South Korea. However, Jae remembers that he came to South Korea several times as a child. Raised in Cerritos, California, United States, Jae was pursuing higher education when he got the chance to audition for a survival show. Through this experience, which saw Jae making it into the top six, he was able to carve out a space for himself in the Korean music scene by finally joining DAY6 in 2015.

Skill Exploration

With his good public speaking and English skills, Jae was then recruited to be the MC of the AFTER SCHOOL CLUB program that aired on the Arirang television station. In the event, he was accompanied by Park Ji Min and Kevin Woo. The climax after two years of filling the show, Jae was declared graduated from his role as MC in July 2018. Outside of daily work, Jae is busy with various projects. He is a part-time streamer on Twitch, co-host of the podcast How Did I Get Here (HDIGH) and is a solo artist, known under the alias eaJ. HDIGH is called "exploring Jae's fun side." He and his co-hosts start with a topic, begin by sharing their opinions and beliefs, and slowly, dive into Google, dive into a whole new topic at the end of the episode.

Agency Critic

Since at least 2020, Jae has a track record of publicly criticizing his former agency, JYP Entertainment. It started in June 2020, when Jae admitted that the agency forced him to stop his Youtube channel. Also in the same month, Jae bluntly RT DAY6's Twitter post about DAY6 member Young K's solo activities. He wrote, "Why don't you re-upload my Dive program (referring to the program with Eric Nam)?"

In August 2021, via a Twitter Space feature, Jae said that he had to work alone while preparing for his appearance at Head in The Clouds (HITC). Until October 2021, Jae said he wasn't the one who wanted to take a break from DAY6 activities, via Live Instagram. Therefore, he was disappointed when he was not contacted to join the Even of Day sub-unit consisting of Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon. DAY6's first sub-unit will debut on August 31, 2021.
