Jirapa Dubai CEO’s murder: How investigations have zeroed in on HR Manager

Latest forensic investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service show that suspect Elisha Manama, a Human Resource Manager who had worked at the Royal Cosy Hotel in Jirapa (Jirapa Dubai), is the likely perpetrator of the guresome murder of Mr Eric Johnson, who was the owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the facility until his death.

According to the girlfriend of Mr Elisha Mahama, Loretta Asare(a suspect herself), Mr Mahama left home on Saturday, February 10, 2024, under the pretext of going to get some food but only returned at 2:20 am on Sunday, February 11, 2024, without the food with the explanation that he had forgotten to take money with him. Instructively the suspected murder of Mr Eric Johnson was discovered on the morning of February 11, 2024.

The painstaking investigations by the CID point to the fact that "latent impressions raised from a glass wine shelf in the main living room of the deceased is identical in every aspect to the left middle fingerprint of suspect Elisha Mahama on his CID form".

Also, "the investigative reports further indicated blood tainted footprints have also been found to be similar to those of the suspect Elisha Mahama on his plain sheet". It has also been established that Mr Elisha Mahama was on the premises of the Royal Cosy Hotel. This is because he made a call to Belinda Millah, also a suspect on the coordinates of the hotel. The call lasted nine 9 minutes.

Given that the death of Eric Johnson has been found to have been due to asphyxiation, strangulation, suspected homicide and severe blood loss, a 'mysterious' injury on Mr Elisha Mahama's right middle finger on Sunday, February 11, 2024, also points to his likely struggle with the deceased. According to the Suspects Ms Loretta Asare and Joshua Tahiti, the injury only appeared on February 11, 2024.

All these findings show Mr Elisha Mahama has the key suspect who may have worked in concert with the others to execute to murder of the resp oected entrepreneur. Meanwhile the case of the murder which is been heard at the Wa District Court, was called on March 13, 2024, with all seven suspect in attendance. The case was adjourned April 15, 2024, after a plea for the discharge of three 3 rejected suspects. All suspect were remanded into custody.

Reports indicate that Mr. Mahama is being treated as the prime suspect. He was allegedly apprehended at a Takoradi hideout and flown to Wa for interrogation.

According to sources, Mr. Mahama allegedly left the Jirapa township shortly after the gruesome murder of Mr Eric Johnson. He was eventually tracked down to Takoradi, where he was detained.

After a few days of interrogation in Wa, the former HR manager was sent back to Takoradi for further interrogation before finally being brought back to Wa.

The arrest of Elyasah Mahama puts the total number of people detained in connection with the businessman's murder to eight.
