Fer Palacio is said to have received death threats after being suspected of transmitting the Covid-19 virus to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Lionel Messi. Messi was declared exposed to Covid-19 after the New Year's celebrations ahead of PSG's regular training session starting again. Fer Palacio became the target of Messi fans because the player nicknamed La Pulga was seen partying together last weekend. However, in the video upload, Fer Palacio denied transmitting the virus to Messi. Palacio also said he received many death threats through private messages.
"I was trending on Twitter because Messi tested positive for Covid-19, They attributed this to me, saying I infected him." said Palacio.
In addition, Palacio also explained that he was accused of being a murderer after Messi was infected with Covid-19.
"They even called me a 'murderer.' I got a lot of bad private messages." said Palacio.
Through the video, Fer Palacio also denied transmitting Covid-19 to Messi, because he was not a positive patient. Therefore, the 31-year-old DJ asked the PSG striker's fans to stop making accusations.
"Yesterday I was tested because I had to go to Uruguay, and I didn't have Covid-19." said Palacio while showing a picture of a negative Covid-19 test result.
On Sunday Les Parisiens revealed four of its players had Covid-19. Apart from Messi, the PSG players who have tested positive for Covid-19 are Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico, and Nathan Bitumazala. Due to exposure to Covid-19, Lionel Messi is threatened with missing two PSG matches. Messi is currently in quarantine in Argentina. The 34-year-old man had to stay longer in his homeland. The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner flew to Argentina to spend Christmas and New Year's Eve with his family. Earlier this week, Messi and his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, were seen singing and dancing at a party. That same night Messi met with Fer Palacio and it was discovered that Messi had hired him to appear at the party.
