One of the most competitive problem with women is irregular menstruation. About half of all the girls will have irregular periods during the first twelve months after starting their period because they don't ovulate every month. In fact, it may take eight or ten years before a girl's menstrual cycle is fully established.
What are the causes of irregular periods.
*Dieting. A young girl can delay the establishment of regular ovulation by starting and maintaining a rigid reducing menstrual cycle.
*Obesity. It is fairly common for a woman to gain a good deal of weight around the time of puberty. This extra fat generates extra estrogen in her body, which can cause excessive build up of the uterine lining, producing irregular spotting and bleeding.
*Exercise. Vigorous exercise can affect a young woman's ovulation. If she has not devolped regular ovulatory patterns and she begins exercising vigorously, ahe may have irregular bleeding and spotting.
*Stress. It is fairly common for young women to skip period in times of stress.
*Medical problems. Some medical disorder can cause a girl to have abnormal or irregular vaginal bleeding. These include problem of hormonal system, which can cause abnormal production of hormones from the pituitary, the thyroid, or the adrenal gland; blood-clotting abnormalities abnormalities, which would be suspected if a girl's first period is frighteningly heavy; bleeding from an unsuspected pregnacy; growth in uterus or vagina and other, more unusual medical problems.
*Amenorrhea. Absence of menstrual period.
*Menorrhagia. Heavy menstruation
*Prolonged menstrual bleeding. Bleeding that exceeds eight days.
*Dysmenorrhoea. Painful menstruation period.
Pattern of menstrual bleeding that are considered normal are:
* Period that comes as often as twenty-one days.
*Period that last only one or two days, or period that last up to six or eight days.
*Period that come as infrequently as six weeks.
