Mercedes G-Class 2021

When working on the design of the Mercedes Gelandewagen 2021 in the new W464 body, the brand's specialists listened to the wishes of the fans of the model, trying to keep the corporate identity as much as possible. As a result, the SUV is visually changed slightly, and it is not so easy to distinguish it from its predecessor.

The front end received the biggest number of changes. G-Class W464 got not only a new bumper, but also another grille. The grille has a grid structure, three horizontal bars and increased logo in the center. Plus the car got new round headlights with LED sections.

The new Mercedes G-Class looks like an axe, while an increase in overall length allowed the designers to make the profile a little more elegant, as the predecessor in this respect is more like a refrigerator. But the broad moldings on the doors and protruding outward wheel arches during the change of generations have not disappeared and are still trademark features of Helic.

When examining the new G-Class 2021 in detail the almost total absence of clearances catches the eye. The fit of the details is really beyond praise - here even the fenders and bumpers fit as close to each other as possible. Other changes include more rounded door corners, the lack of air ducts on the front fenders, and a gas tank hatch moved under the right rear window.

The engine on the new Mercedes G500 works in conjunction with a nine-band automatic 9G-Tronic. Drive, of course, full, and the torque is transmitted in the ratio 40:60 in favor of the rear axle.

We should note that for SUV five modes of control electronics are provided: Comfort, Sport, Eco, Individual and G-Mode. The last is developed specially for driving on lack of roads and is activated automatically at blocking of one of three differentials or at transition to a lowering gear.

With time the Gelendwagen will have a diesel version G 400d equipped with 2.9-liter inline six rated at about 340 hp, as well as "charged" modifications G 63 and G 65, details of which are known later.
