Miasnikov warned of an epidemic more dangerous than a coronavirus pandemic

Myasnikov warned of an epidemic more dangerous than a coronavirus pandemic.

Mutated bird flu could become much more dangerous than the coronavirus.

Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov spoke about the dangers of bird flu and its mutations.

According to the doctor, today everyone is mainly concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic, due to which many more dangerous diseases have receded into the background. He noted that most diseases, including bird flu, have spread around the world from China, but controlling animal vectors of the virus is almost impossible.

"I'm not sure that if a new mutation of bird flu occurs, we will react quickly or then protect ourselves with masks. Even before covid, there was talk that we were two mutations away from an epidemic where a new virus would go from bird to human, mutate in humans and start transmitting further. Then we could run into a big problem, and I'm not sure Covid has taught us anything," the doctor noted.

He added that the mortality rate from the disease is very high: among children it reaches 53 percent.

Earlier, Myasnikov named the only way to protect against the omicron strain of coronavirus: revaccination and correction of the vaccines themselves should help. He emphasized that any subsequent mutation will be more contagious than the previous one and this development is the norm for virus evolution.
