Mophie Snap Juice Mini: wireless charging to the fullest MagSafe power

Modern smartphones are equipped with powerful batteries: they are compact, highly efficient and have a good supply of capacity.

But in life, surprises often happen: I forgot to put my smartphone on recharging, there is no way to connect to a power outlet, there is no time to sit next to me in a waiting position. But more often it happens that the user is stuck in a mobile game and did not notice how she ate the entire daily supply of energy. This is where the Mophie Snap Juice Mini power bank comes in.

These devices are better to choose from a reputable brand, like a smartphone. Mophie is the favorite brand of iPhone users. Take the same Mophie Juice Pack, made for the Apple iPhone XS and iPhone X.

This time I got a Mophie Snap Juice Mini model with a capacity of 5000 mAh for testing. In fact, it is a prepared Mophie Juice Pack: there is no case and only an external battery, but it is suitable for any smartphone thanks to wired charging, and can also be used for wireless if there is support for Qi or MagSafe fast charging technology.

The Mophie Snap Juice Mini power bank is magnetically attached to the back of the smartphone, allowing you to carry them together as a whole: the smartphone continuously restores its vitality.

Formally, the development of this power bank was carried out with the expectation of new iPhones. Model 13 Pro Max, equipped with a MagSafe contactless charging system, charges with it perfectly. Even the old iPhone 11 Pro Max works. But the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR, packed in a multi-layer protective case Otterbox Defender Series, will have to be undressed - charging will only work on a β€œclean” smartphone.

Disappointment awaits only iPhone 13 Pro users. The reason is banal, but the developers could not get around it: an enlarged camera block is installed here, and as a result of the increased thickness of the case, the magnetic lock does not work. You will have to charge by simply placing your smartphone on top of the Mophie Snap Juice Mini power bank.

With Android clones, the picture of wireless charging compatibility is more complex. So, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is equipped with Qi support and is perfectly charged in this way if there is no case. You only have to take into account that Qi charging power is 7.5W, so charging with higher MagSafe power is not available.

Let's summarize. All models, except for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, charge wirelessly with a bang, that is, at full MagSafe power (15 W), but this is not reflected in the documentation and power bank labeling. The reason is that the company has not carried out MFI certification, therefore it has no right to put the appropriate compatibility label.

When buying other models of smartphones, you need to be careful if you want to get not just a wired power bank, but with support for wireless charging. The excessive thickness of the smartphone case, the selected material may interfere. Even if you put a special MagSafe case on your Google Pixel 6 Pro smartphone, then most likely the magnetic mount will not work. It is better to check the compatibility of wireless charging when buying an Android smartphone with the seller.

But wired charging will always help out: it is done through the USB-C port and is suitable for any smartphone model. So with a magnetic power bank, wired charging will still go under a higher priority.

Many also care about how powerfully the power bank β€œsucks”. Our tests have shown that the magnetic mount is reliable, but if you drop a smartphone with a magnetized power bank on the floor, then the tandem will not be saved.

The rest of the Mophie Snap Juice Mini is up to the mark: made under the brand name of a well-known brand, encased in an elegant black case with a textured finish, reliable in operation.
