Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reacted to insulting remarks made to him by former US President Donald Trump. Maariv reports that.
"Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appreciates former President Donald Trump's work for the good of the state of Israel and its security," the Likud party leader's press office said in a statement.
It stressed that Netanyahu greatly appreciates the importance of the alliance between Israel and the United States. It was for this reason that it was important for him to congratulate new US President Joe Biden on taking office.
Earlier, Trump swore profanely at Netanyahu and said he had not spoken to him since he congratulated Joe Biden on his election as head of the United States.
He said that unlike the Israeli prime minister, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro did not immediately congratulate Biden on his victory because they "felt the election was rigged".
"The first person to congratulate (Biden) was Bibi Netanyahu, a man for whom I have done more than for anyone else I have dealt with ... Bibi could have remained silent. And he made a terrible mistake," the former US leader said.
