"Call of Hell" became the most-watched Netflix TV series in the world, topping the service's ratings in more than 80 countries
"Another South Korean Netflix series has set a record for views and overtook the previous leader. The series in question is Hellbound, which has surpassed Squid Game to become Netflix's most-watched series.
According to FlixPatrol analysts, "Hellbound" became Netflix's most-watched TV series worldwide on Nov. 20, topping the service's ratings in more than 80 countries within 24 hours of the series' release. The director and screenwriter is Yong Sang-ho ("Train to Busan" and "Train to Busan 2: Peninsula").
The series "Call of Hell" is an entirely original Netflix project, with a plot centered on supernatural beings who take people to hell. The pilot was shown at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival in September. "The Squid Game," which premiered Sept. 19, spent 46 consecutive days at No. 1 on Netflix's top-rated series. The series was watched by 142 million households in 94 countries in October. That brought Netflix about $900 million. Earlier this month, "Squid Game" director Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed the imminent start of filming for the second season.
