New Quest 2 Games: Coming 2022

The year 2021 was a phenomenal year for virtual reality. But we have 2022 coming up towards the end of the year, so let's take a look at the exciting games we have for the Quest 2 platform.

1. SMALL TOWNS

Little Cities appears to be a VR version of popular city building simulators such as Sim City and Cities Skylines. Released for Oculus Quest headphones, it has a similar visual style, but slightly simplified and on a smaller scale - as the name suggests - occurring on connected islands.

UK indie game studio Purple Yonder is developing Little Cities, while the developers of Phantom: Covert Ops nDreams will act as the editors, making it the first title to be released under the recently announced publishing and co-funding initiative of $2 million.

2. GARDEN OF THE SEA

Garden of the Sea has always felt like a cross between Harvest Moon and Pokémon, allowing you to explore islands full of funny creatures, create new equipment and grow new plants. In fact, we unveiled the game in the first Upload VR Showcase, at E3 2019, and it's been accessed early since then.

One of the game's most interesting features is its 'Live Music', which adapts the soundtrack based on the player's actions. The new trailer, meanwhile, gives us a look at some of the different islands and characters in the game, including some mysterious figures that we'll be interested in seeing come into the story.

Neat is known for his Budget Cuts series, which focuses on VR physical stealth.

3. NERF

“The NERF Ultimate Championship represents an important milestone for us as the first collaboration with our new parent company, Hasbro,” Kathryn Rawson, Secret Location's VP of Content, said in a prepared statement. "Everyone on the team is excited to bring those epic Nerf battles from our childhood into the immersive world of VR and the growing audience of Oculus Quest when the game launches next year."

4. GREEN HELL VR

Green Hell is an Open World Survival Simulator set in the uncharted unique setting of the Amazonian rainforest. You are left alone in the jungle without any food or equipment, trying to survive and find your way out. Clinging to life, the player is set on a journey of durability as the effects of solitude wear heavy not only on the body but also the mind. How long can you survive against the dangers of the unknown? On this journey, you won’t get any help from the outside world. Equipped only with your bare hands you’ll have to learn current survival techniques to build shelters, make tools, and craft weapons in order to hunt and defend yourself. Constantly threatened by the jungle you'll fight with both wild animals and tropical sicknesses.

5. ULTIMECHS

Official details are sparse now, but the game trailer reveals that players will control mechs in futuristic sports arenas. But instead of fighting in combat, it looks like players will play a giant game of mechanical football, firing rockets at a ball in hopes of hitting it into a net.

6. ZIGGY'S COMIC ADVENTURE

The Quest 2 edition is due to arrive around the same time as the PC edition in late 2022. Ziggy's lets you pilot a spaceship that is being chased by legions of hapless aliens. Why do you ask? Because you stole their lovely research object and they want it back.

But the game is not a simple space combat simulator or a management one. Instead, Ziggy's balances the two by allowing you to pilot your ship with immersive controls, then come back and explore your room-scale cabin, interacting with various other elements. It feels like a game that puts virtual reality design front and center, and we're looking forward to seeing exactly how Stardust will capitalize on its idea closer to release next year.

So these are the new things to come for next year. 2021 was good for virtual reality and 2022 is looking just as good, if not better.
