No one wants to lose 2bn dollars: Zelenskyy on preserving Russian gas transit.
The president said that it was important for Ukraine to preserve the existing volumes of Russian gas transit.
It is important for Ukraine to preserve the transit of Russian gas through its territory in order not to lose money.
This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky during a briefing after the 23rd Ukraine-EU summit with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
At the same time, the head of state stressed that it is very important for Ukraine to maintain its energy independence.
"In any case, it is important for us to preserve the transit of gas that goes through our territory, as no one wants to lose 2 billion dollars. That's why we address different directions because of this danger," Zelensky said.
The president also noted that he discussed with Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen the possibility of a third energy package of sanctions against Nord Stream 2.
According to Zielenski, this is not a one-day discussion.
The head of state also said that during a meeting with the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, they agreed to hold a strategic energy dialogue between Ukraine and the European Union.
