Pandemic, chip shortages and the energy crisis have caught up with Apple too

The chip shortage is a condition that almost all electronics manufacturers on the market are experiencing. Many companies were forced to adjust release dates of new products and even refuse to release some of them. It seemed that only Apple managed to avoid these problems. But, alas, they have caught up with the Cupertino group as well.

According to the Nikkei newspaper, for the first time in a decade the company has been forced to stop assembly lines for the production of iPads and iPhones. This is the result of the energy crisis in China due to severe power cuts. Component shortages have also had an impact on the shutdown. The decision to pause the production of the devices was clearly not easy for the company, because in the run-up to the Christmas sales Apple was previously ramping up production of gadgets.

According to the source, the production of iPhone 13 in September and October this year was 20 per cent lower than planned. This happened even though the company made smartphone production a priority, abandoning the production of the iPad. The tablet production plan, on the other hand, was cut in half as a result.
