People expect my movies to be sexy; Interview with Sunny Leone

Sunny Leone's Karanjit Kaur Vohra's life changed when she joined Bigg Boss in 2011.  Sunny's entry from a blue film heroine to a Bollywood movie was not easy.  Courageously overcoming setbacks and setbacks, Sunny Leone has made her mark in the world of Hindi cinema.  Many in the industry praised Sunny for her precise attitude, hardworking mind and Sunny's passion for cinema.

In an interview with Indian Express, Sunny Leone, 40, talks about her life journey and ending her typecasting in sexual roles..

Karanjit Kaur- What about the second Base Series Anonymous after your biopic The Untold Story of Sunny Leone?

Every moment spent on Anamika's set made me happy.  Because action is something I love to do.  This is like my alternate ego.  In real life I never get into fights, so it was a lot of fun learning different things.

The truth is, being called Anamika makes me very happy.  I learned a lot from Sir Vikram.  This is a very different character that I have never done before.  I'm so emotional that someone puts all their effort and faith in me.  It is not always possible to get good projects like this.

Prior to covid, I had signed on for some other projects besides Anamika.  People see me in this very differently from my regular roles.  It took a while to finish but I'm excited to know the reaction from the people.  Because this is not what they expect.  Maybe it's just me typing it (laughs), or it's not something they see I do.

Why do you say that?  What does it mean to type yourself?

People expect me to do glamorous characters.  There should be a few sex scenes in it.  I have no problem doing so if the character needs to.  But there are still people who come to me and say, ‘You're Sunny, this is what we intend to do (sexual)), and that does not bother me.  Contrary to what people expect from me, it's a balanced character, there's love, there are intimate moments, but it's not what people expect from me.

How do you feel when people do things that are different from what is expected of you?

I love my fans and they have accepted me wholeheartedly.  I think they are on your journey with you after watching your first or second movie.  I think I'm growing and progressing, and so are they.  They watch you and receive you as you grow.  I think every movie should be different.  Why would someone do the same roles over and over again ?.  Sometimes people like it, but sometimes it's not.  As an actress I have always wanted to do different roles.  It cannot be done with one project, you try and do different things.

What was the turning point in your life and career when you came to India?

I'm not sure if I can point out one thing exactly.  Laila (Item Song in Rais) was a great experience and I was able to act with Shah Rukh Khan.  There have been many bad experiences.  Later many things got better.  The shooting of my biopic was the most beautiful moment of my life.  Because people saw my life story from my point of view.

Your journey so far, the misfortunes you have faced, a loyal group of fans, how do you feel now?

I never thought of buying a house in Mumbai at the time of boarding a flight looking for job opportunities in India, but I was able to.  I adopted a girl from here and I am raising my two sons here.  My heart was full.  I have a makeup brand, this beautiful office, this is a journey to make dreams come true.  A lot of bad things happened on this trip, but it all made you a stronger person.  I live in a great moment today that goes through all the bad moments.  We should live like that without worrying about the bad things that happened.  Focus on the good things.
