Doctor names way to protect yourself from COVID-19 Omicron strain
A revaccination four to five months later will help protect against the Omicron strain.
The specialist explained that early revaccination provides a good titer of neutralizing antibodies.
"If a person has had two vaccinations and a booster, or has been over-vaccinated and over-vaccinated, or vaccinated and over-vaccinated, then they have gotten 'hybrid immunity,' which means there are many antibodies and enough neutralizing antibodies," Kryuchkov concluded.
The World Health Organization, following an emergency meeting in late November, decided to classify a new variant of the coronavirus found in South Africa as worrisome. The WHO named the strain B.1.1.529 with the Greek letter "omicron."
Since then, the new strain has been found in about 60 countries. Many countries have closed flights to Africa and strengthened quarantine measures.
Russia has so far registered two cases of infection with the Omicron strain - those arriving from South Africa. Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, told RIA Novosti that these people were vaccinated and now carry the disease in a mild form.
