WARSAW, 24 November - RIA Novosti. Poland has detected a record 28,380 cases of COVID in a 24-hour period since April, the republic's health ministry said.

The total number of confirmed cases of infection in Poland since the start of the pandemic is 3,406,129.

During the same day, 460 patients with the coronavirus died. The total number of fatal cases in the country rose to 81,688.

According to the latest data, 18 707 people with coronavirus have been hospitalized in Poland, 1613 of them are on ventilators, 573 585 are under quarantine and 2 919 578 have recovered.

Because of the high number of detected cases of coronavirus, the Polish government declared a nationwide quarantine in March. In May, the country lifted most of the restrictions. Shopping malls, galleries, museums, hotels (with occupancy restrictions), restaurants, cafes, theaters and cinemas resumed their work. The obligation to wear masks in the street was abolished. Family celebrations, such as weddings, are also allowed, but with a limit on the number of guests.
